Spring Art Walk Begins

Saturday, April 5th, 2008

We’re an hour and a half in and the crowd has been pretty steady for a Saturday morning.  The last couple of art walks it seems people always trickle in until about 2.  Then the larger groups start filling in.

Slight interruption there.  One guy was very complimentary.  That makes it worth while.  I’m already into the sauce.  Khalua in the coffee.  Need something to get thru the random strangers judging me in their minds.

More later.

Artworks Upload

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

In the event you don’t know (I’ve posted this in many places) I recently uploaded my paintings to DeviantART.  You can go there and see them and purchase prints if you’d like.  I haven’t ordered any prints so I’m not sure how they come out.  I assume they’re of excellent quality as DeviantART is quite popular.

Check out my DeviantART Gallery.

Art and Selling Art

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

This weekend I’ll be participating in my second art walk. The general public will wander into the loft and checkout my works. Great. Ok, a little background…The Brewery, where I live, holds an art walk twice a year. All the info you want here: Brewery Art Walk The spring 07 art walk was the first time i had stuff up for people to see. It was an interesting experience and I found myself fascinated in people’s behavior. I guess they get to scrutinize art and I get to scrutinize them, everybody wins! I think.

My dilemma is this. There was interest in one piece of mine last year. I had just finished and I couldn’t sell it. I just couldn’t, shut up. This year I plan on pricing everything and I’ll probably make a friend or two act as the middleman in any transaction that might take place. I’ll look away. I really don’t, however, want to put prices next to the paintings. I know it happens everywhere, I know it’s what’s expected and I know nobody cares but it makes it feel, oh, I dunno, like a yard sale I guess. (if we had fluorescent lights in the loft it would feel like walmart)

Am I being weird? My solution is to print out a list and put the prices on that. I think that’s good enough. I’m really just thinking out loud…or whatever…here. Let’s hope there’s some interest in at least one. I’ll blog about the whole thing after. Hell. maybe I’ll blog during. It’ll give me something to do and I can report on the odd behavior of strangers.
